I took a month away from social media (and pretty much everything else) to focus on writing in NaNoWriMo. For those of you that don’t know what that is, it is a challenge where you try to write 50,000 words towards a novel in one month.
I thought that by removing the distractions of social media I would easily be able to make the target without even taking any time off work. This might well have been the case if I didn’t find other things to distract me and take the place of my usual social media addiction.
I am however really happy that I managed to get over 36,000 words in November. It might not be the 50,000 that I had aimed for but it is a whole 36,000 words that I didn’t have at the start of the month. I think that is an achievement worth celebrating.
Now I just have to get all the other elements of my life back on track. Maybe lose some of the weight that I have probably gained by sitting in front of my laptop for a whole month.
