We have had our puppy for about a week and a half now, I think that he is settling in quite well and we are getting to know each other quite well.
This is not to say that looking after a puppy is easy, it is like having a new baby. They require a lot of care, attention and most of all patience. They come to you after being taken away from everything that they know which means that they are nervous about pretty much everything and they have no idea what is expected of them in your house. They will have accidents and they will bite you and everything else that they can get their teeth into but it is really important not to get angry with them as this is not going to make anything better.
For the last week and a half we have been doing a lot of training with him in the times that he is awake. This seems to be going quite well so far but it is still really early days and we have a long way to go. There are a lot of things that we cant do with him yet until he has had his second injection such as going for a walk and meeting other dogs. This can make things a lot more difficult for us as it means that he is cooped up in this house and garden when all he wants to do is start exploring the world.
His second injections are on Friday so soon he will be able to start exploring the wide open world outside.
