This is not the first chapter of the story. If you want to read the first chapter, then click here Chapter 2 Nico “You were amazing earlier,” the blonde woman in front of me commented while twirling her hair around her finger. She couldn’t have made it more obvious that she wanted me if she tried. She was standing so close to me that it would have been almost impossible to get a sheet of paper between the two of us. She was so eager to please that it was almost tempting to let her take me back to her room for a few hours. Almost, but not quite. Kelly had been on my radar from the moment I transferred here. She was the most beautiful woman on the cheerleading squad, and she was good for a bit of fun. The only problem was that she seemed to think it bought her some kind of commitment from me. She had even started warning other women away from me, which was something I absolutely couldn’t abide. “Thank you, Katie,” I replied, trying to keep the smirk from my face. “My name’s not Katie.” Kelly placed her hands on her hips and looked at me as though I had just slapped her across the face. Given how good she was with her mouth, she probably wasn’t accustomed to men forgetting her name. Maybe their own names, but definitely not hers. “I’m sorry. What is your name again?” I asked in my most innocent-sounding voice. “You are a complete and utter asshole. You do realise that, don’t you?” Kelly screamed at me before grabbing a cup from a nearby woman and throwing the contents at me. The sweet syrupy liquid discoloured my white t-shirt and stuck to my skin, but at least I had achieved my goal. Kelly had stormed off, and I doubted that I would be hearing from her again in a hurry. “I am pretty sure you deserved that, and much worse,” a voice called from behind me. I turned around to see my best friend and the de facto Luna of my pack, Jasper. He had been much happier since moving out here, and I wasn’t sure if that was because he had escaped his parents’ overbearing influence or because of that beautiful mate of his. “How long were you lurking in the shadows for?” “Just long enough to hear you pretending to forget that poor woman’s name. What did she do to upset you exactly?” Jasper asked. “She was starting to get a little too attached, so I decided to give her a bit of a reality check. You know how it is,” I replied. Because after all, until recently, Jasper had been an even bigger player than I was. “I know, but I also know you are going to regret this the moment you meet your mate.” I shook my head. He might have changed his ways for his mate, but that was never going to happen to me. I didn’t need a mate to tie me down, and there were always plenty of women who were more than happy to give me what I needed. My wolf might feel different once he wakes up in a few days, but he didn’t have much say in it. If I ever met my mate, then I would reject her before she could get under my skin, and my wolf would just have to accept it. “What are you doing here anyway?” I asked, changing the subject. “Lizzie wants you to help with Alpha Davies. He brought more people with him than we expected, and they are being difficult.” “OK, but why didn’t you call or mind link me? You didn’t need to come all the way here,” I replied. “I told Lizzie that it was because I was worried you would ignore your messages, but truthfully, I wasn’t sure if I could take any more of Alpha Davies’ male Luna jokes. I was starting to lose my temper, and I didn’t want to end up getting my ass kicked by him and humiliating Lizzie.” “Oh, well, I could always beat him up for you,” I suggested. Jasper might not be bothered by his new, lower position, but he was still my best friend, and I didn’t like seeing other people talk down to him. Besides, how hard could it be for a Beta who didn’t have his wolf yet to beat up an ageing Alpha? “He really isn’t worth it.” Jasper shook his head in barely contained frustration. “Fine, but the offer still stands,” I replied with a smile on my face before adding. “I will meet you at your car in a couple of minutes. I just need to wash this mess off.” Jasper muttered a few words of agreement before heading towards the nearest exit. He seemed completely oblivious to the way the eyes of half the women in the room followed him. He was so in love with his mate that he no longer seemed to even notice other women. It was sickening. I waited until Jasper was out of sight before making a move myself. The frat house where the party was being held didn’t have the best bathroom facilities, and even worse cleanliness standards. But it was still exponentially better than sitting in a car for an hour covered in a sticky substance and meeting a rival Alpha stinking of cheap alcohol and sugar. There was a hamper of spare clothes on the upstairs landing, so I grabbed the most presentable t-shirt I could find and locked myself in the bathroom. A quick glance in the dingy mirror over the sink was enough to tell me that this shower was one of my better ideas. My hair was clumped together in patches. It looked as though I had fallen asleep in a vat of syrup. “Nico Vale. I have you alone at last,” an attractive woman in a skin-tight black dress said as she stepped out from behind the shower curtain. … Continue reading The Beta’s Curvy Mate – Chapter 2

I’m Back
I took a month away from social media (and pretty much everything else) to focus on writing in NaNoWriMo. For those of you that don't know what that is, it is a challenge where you try to write 50,000 words towards a novel in one month. I thought that by removing the distractions of social … Continue reading I’m Back

Book Review – Leave the World Behind

Book Review – Twilight
So I read twilight for the very first time. Why so late on I hear you ask, well when the book first came out I thought my dislike at watching romance would translate to a dislike of reading romance too. Well as it turns out I not only like reading romance, I absolutely love it! … Continue reading Book Review – Twilight

Before you know it you are feeling miserable and having the … Continue reading Wednesday 5th May 2021
