This time of year is meant to be a time of giving, sharing and good will but from what I have seen this is far from reality.
In the last week I have seen a lot more examples of road rage when I am cycling or or walking around the city I live in than I have in the last few months combined. All of this at a time when people are mean to be acting in a more kind manner to one another.
I understand that everyone has places that they need to be but that really is no for the behaviour that I have seen. There have been more than usual instances of speeding and people cutting each other up. In addition to this in the last two days I have heard six different people beeping their horns (and none of these have been for anything which I would think is worthy of using the horn for). This is more than I have heard in the last year!
This grumpiness isn’t limited to people on the road either. When I am walking around the city I have seen so many people walking into the way of other people, tut-ing at people that dare to walk slower than they do or blocking other people from using the street.
This may not seem like a huge thing but little things like this add up. Getting treated in this way makes your day a little bit worse each time it happens. After dealing with this over a long period of time it is easy to see how tempers can become frayed and before you know it you end up in a self-perpetuating cycle of aggravation.
The worst part of this is that it is so easy to resolve. If everyone showed just a little bit more patience with each other then this world would be a much nicer place to live.
I would like everyone that reads this to make an effort tomorrow to make the world just a little bit brighter by showing a bit of patience and kindness 🙂
