Goal Setting

Over the first few weeks of being on lockdown I was far too hard on myself and this has got to stop! I would set myself really unrealistic goals in things that I wanted to get done each day to make the best use of the time. Then I would beat myself up over not reaching all these goals. This made me feel as though I was failing and I would react to this by overeating and not getting anything else done that I wanted to do.

Now that this has been going on for a few weeks I have made an effort to reassess this. From now on I am going to be making an effort to achieve a few more manageable goals each day such as making sure that I get in at least ten thousand steps each day and making sure that I eat my five a day and spend at least a few minutes relaxing each day.

It is easy to get stuck in the trap of thinking that just because I am now at home all of the time this means that I have to get more done in the time that I am here. This however doesn’t take into account the fact that I still have to work a full working week while blanking the feelings of unease with the events that are going on in the world.

Stress can have a massive impact on you physically and mentally, not acknowledging this has lead to me feeling burned out over the last few weeks. By focusing more on my feelings rather than putting more stress on myself should make the next few weeks much better and maybe even more productive.
