End of Week 1

It is the end of the first full week in January so it is a great time to assess how I am doing and where I want to be by the end of the year.

The first thing that I have been working on this year is my diet. I have now lost a total of 3lbs since I decided to focus on this about three weeks ago. This might not sound like a lot of weight to lose in three weeks but as these three weeks spanned over Christmas and new year I think that you can agree this is a pretty huge achievement.

The second major goal that I have for this year is to get over my impostor syndrome and publish a couple of books this year. Last year I got a couple of books to a stage where they were pretty close to being ready to publish and then suddenly got distracted by a new project.

I kept telling myself that it was just that the new story was more interesting to me but in reality I was scared. This year I have vowed to get over this fear. I am only going to get better at doing this kind of thing if I actually push myself to do it. So this week I have spent some time researching publishing options and I am determined to self publish my first book by the end of March at the latest. Watch this space for further updates!

The final thing that I have been working on this year is not ignoring my own mental health. This is something which I have historically been really bad with. As someone who is prone to anxiety, it really doesn’t take a whole lot to push me over the edge. This has been worse during the pandemic and I have often felt panicked or burnt out. So I am consciously making an effort to monitor my mental wellbeing and making sure that I take a bit of time each day to focus on relaxation and mindfulness. It is a bit too soon to be sure how effective this is yet but I will keep going.
